The Committee of Parliament on Official Language conducted a significant inspection at the Indian Maritime University (IMU) Mumbai Port Campus (MPC) today, focusing on the effective integration of Hindi as the Official Language in both administrative and academic areas. This review took place in Pune alongside various Central Government departments.

The inspection was chaired by Bhartruhari Mahtab, Hon’ble MP (Lok Sabha) and Deputy Chairman of the Committee, with Dr. Dinesh Sharma, MP (Rajya Sabha) and Convener of the First Sub-Committee, in attendance, alongside other prominent Members of Parliament. Key representatives from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, including Senior Economic Adviser Ms. Priti Nath and Deputy Director (Rajbhasha) Smt. Sangeeta Topno, were also present.

The leadership team from IMU included Dr. Rajoo Balaji, Pro-Vice Chancellor, K. Saravanan, Registrar, and Sunil C. Panigrahy, Director of IMU MPC. The Committee evaluated the university’s compliance with the Official Language Policy and provided constructive feedback aimed at enhancing the use of Hindi within the maritime sector. IMU reaffirmed its dedication to promoting Hindi while excelling in global maritime training.
