Recently 61 Indian Seafarers Repatriated Home from Gulf

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways announced on Monday that over 3,217 Indian seafarers have been safely repatriated from the Gulf region, with 61 returning in the past 96 hours. Port operations across India are functioning normally, without any congestion reported.

During an interministerial briefing on developments in West Asia, Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary at the Ministry, assured that all Indian seafarers in the region are safe and that maritime operations remain uninterrupted. He highlighted the successful unloading of a significant liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cargo at Kandla port. The Marshall Islands-flagged LPG carrier Symi, which arrived on May 16 carrying 19,965 metric tonnes of LPG and 21 foreign crew members, has completed its discharge.

Mangal emphasized that no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels or foreign ships with Indian crew have occurred in the last 96 hours. The maritime control room has been actively engaged, handling 9,702 calls and over 21,000 emails to date, including 436 calls and 996 emails in the past 96 hours. The ministry continues to work closely with the Ministry of External Affairs and maritime stakeholders to ensure the welfare of seafarers and smooth maritime operations.
