Fourteen Filipino seafarers from the MT Acheloos were repatriated from Oman following a missile incident on July 20, 2026. According to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the crew members safely disembarked from the vessel at Shinas Port in Oman and were subsequently transported to Muscat International Airport on August 9 for their return to the Philippines.
The repatriation process was facilitated by the Migrant Workers Office in Muscat, the Philippine Embassy in Oman, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, which provided crucial support to the seafarers during this challenging time.
On August 9, the seafarers boarded Qatar Airways flight QR1125, with a scheduled connection in Doha to flight QR932, which was destined for Manila. The DMW announced that they were expected to arrive at Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 4:30 p.m. on August 10.
This incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by seafarers in volatile regions and the importance of diplomatic and governmental support in ensuring their safety and well-being.
