Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his readiness to collaborate on projects aimed at transforming Visakhapatnam into a significant maritime industrial hub. This statement was made during an event at Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), where he inaugurated several key developments, including the first Fleet Support Ship and the upgraded Slipway-4 along with a 300-tonne Goliath Crane.
During his address, Rajnath Singh highlighted Visakhapatnam’s advantages, such as its established shipyard, robust port infrastructure, skilled labor force, and engineering capabilities. He emphasized that the city should not be seen solely as a shipyard but should evolve into a comprehensive maritime industrial center, enhancing its strategic importance as part of India’s maritime gateway.
Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with CM Naidu, Rajnath Singh noted their mutual support dating back to their tenures as chief ministers of their respective states. He expressed confidence in Naidu’s commitment to cooperate fully in initiatives that bolster the region’s industrial potential.
Rajnath Singh concluded by asserting that India should aspire to elevate its shipyards to compete with the best globally in terms of technology, delivery, and reliability, reinforcing the importance of maritime development in the country.
