Drones Attack Two Merchant Ships in Bulgaria's Black Sea EEZ

Eighteen crew members were successfully rescued after a second commercial vessel was targeted by drones off the coast of Bulgaria early Tuesday morning. The group consisted of 11 Turkish nationals and seven Indian nationals. They were brought aboard the Bulgarian ferry Dioscuria, where two sailors sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital in Varna for medical attention. The remaining 16 crew members are being taken ashore safely.

In a more concerning development, the crew of another cargo ship is currently unaccounted for following the vessel’s sinking during the drone attack. Search and rescue operations have been initiated, but so far, only an overturned lifeboat and some life jackets have been discovered at the site of the incident.
