India has strongly condemned the attack on the commercial vessel MV ROYAD MAMMADOV in the Black Sea, which resulted in the deaths of two foreign seafarers. Fortunately, all three Indian nationals aboard the ship are reported to be safe, although some crew members, including Indians, sustained injuries. The injured have been rescued by Romanian authorities and are currently receiving medical care. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed gratitude to Romania for their prompt response.
In its statement, the MEA emphasized its serious concerns regarding attacks on commercial shipping and seafarers, highlighting that such incidents jeopardize global commerce and the welfare of people worldwide. India continues to advocate for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve ongoing conflicts. The Indian Embassy in Romania confirmed the attack and noted the casualties, while also stating that the three Indian crew members were safe, with one receiving treatment. The Indian Ambassador to Romania has been in contact with the injured individual and hospital staff to ensure they receive necessary support.
This attack underscores rising security threats in key maritime corridors, including the Persian Gulf, Red Sea, and Black Sea. India has consistently voiced concerns over the safety of commercial vessels and their crews. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has addressed these issues at international forums, advocating for the protection of shipping routes and urging restraint to maintain global trade and energy supplies.
