A Singapore-flagged ship, the Yangze 22, collided with a Japan-flagged ship, the Vega Dream, in Chinese waters on December 30. The incident occurred in the Changjiang River around 10pm, as reported by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) on December 31. Fortunately, there were no injuries to the crew on either vessel.

The Yangze 22, a bulk carrier that typically transports dry cargo like grains and coal, sustained damage to its hull during the collision. Additionally, approximately 9 tonnes of fuel oil were spilled as a result. The ship is currently anchored at Hengsha East Anchorage for damage assessment, with clean-up efforts being carried out by the Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration and support craft deployed by the vessel’s company.
