On Friday, a service vessel collided with a moored fast ferry at a small port on the island of Froya, located northwest of Trondheim. The incident involved the service vessel, identified as the Multi Power, which approached the port side of the fast-ferry catamaran Froyfart at low speed before making contact.

Imagery obtained by local outlet Hitra-Froya revealed significant damage to the ferry’s hull. The impact created a large gash at the waterline, leading to partial flooding of the port-side hull. Additionally, the upper deck’s rails and plating adjacent to the pilothouse sustained considerable damage.

Salvage operations commenced later that same day, with Oya Shipping, the ferry’s operator, reporting that the situation was quickly stabilized. However, due to the extent of the damage, the company announced the cancellation of an upcoming voyage.

The Multi Power, a 90-foot workboat equipped with twin deck cranes and a deadweight capacity of 200 tonnes, is part of a fleet serving the region’s aquaculture sector. As of Sunday, the vessel was reported to be operational in the island archipelago northwest of Trondheim.
