Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel and the United States have aligned objectives in their ongoing conflict with Iran. He emphasized that both nations are focused on removing enriched materials from Iran, halting its enrichment capabilities, and reopening crucial maritime routes. Netanyahu noted that the U.S. has kept Israel informed about its discussions with Iran, underlining the shared commitment to these goals.
As tensions persist, Netanyahu highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the situation’s progression, especially with a fragile ceasefire set to expire soon. He reaffirmed Israel’s readiness for any scenario, particularly as Israeli forces engage with Hezbollah, which has intensified its military actions. Netanyahu expressed solidarity with residents in northern Israel while confirming that Israeli operations against Hezbollah are ongoing, particularly in Bint Jbeil, a significant stronghold for the group.
Additionally, Netanyahu revealed that negotiations with Lebanon, facilitated by the U.S., are underway, despite the lack of formal diplomatic relations. The primary aims of these talks include disarming Hezbollah and establishing sustainable peace. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have outlined conditions for any agreement, including the creation of a buffer zone free from Hezbollah’s presence, while continuing their military operations in southern Lebanon.
