Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi condemned a Ukrainian attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, stating it “cannot go unanswered.” The incident resulted in one sailor’s death and another injury.
Araqchi communicated his concerns during discussions with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, sharing updates on the situation via social media. Lavrov expressed condolences for the deceased sailor and emphasized the need to address such provocations from Ukraine.
The Iranian minister also thanked local authorities in Astrakhan, Russia, where the vessel began its journey, for their assistance to the crew. He highlighted the urgency of halting these “adventures” by the Kyiv regime.
Additionally, Araqchi updated Lavrov on ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East.
