The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Registry has once again been recognized by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) for its commitment to high-quality shipping. For the 21st consecutive year, the RMI has maintained its status as a qualifying jurisdiction, making it the only one of the world’s three largest registries to achieve QUALSHIP 21 for this year. Additionally, the RMI is the only registry in the world to achieve this prestigious status for 21 consecutive years. This achievement highlights the RMI Registry’s dedication to compliance and safety in the maritime industry.
To ensure continued support for RMI-flagged vessels and maintain its strong Port State Control (PSC) record, International Registries, Inc. (IRI) continues to invest in resources and tools for the future. IRI provides administrative and technical support to the RMI Registry and has specialized teams in alternative fuels, decarbonization technologies, safety, and security. By collaborating with owners and operators of RMI-flagged vessels and global PSC authorities, the RMI Registry aims to promote safe vessel operation and consistent support for years to come.
The RMI Registry is evolving to meet the needs of the digital and technologically advanced maritime industry by streamlining processes and procedures through technology. By investing in digital tools for scheduling inspections, data analysis of PSC trends, and electronic access to teams across its 28 worldwide offices, the RMI Registry aims to enhance client services and create a seamless client experience. In addition to its 21 consecutive years on the USCG’s QUALSHIP 21 roster, the RMI remains whitelisted with the Paris and Tokyo Memorandums of Understanding and has a favorable rating with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. As of March 31, 2025, the RMI Registry included 5,773 vessels, with 26.1% of all vessels enrolled in QUALSHIP 21 being RMI-flagged.
