Norway’s Torvald Klaveness has announced the sale of its Klaveness Ship Management division to OSM Thome in order to increase scale and investment in the ship management sector. OSM Thome, known for driving consolidation in the industry, will continue to operate the Klaveness operation while Torvald Klaveness will contract with the new owners for ship management of Klaveness Combination Carriers. This decision was made to address future demands and strengthen ship management activities related to Klaveness Combination Carriers, which currently operates a fleet of combination carriers.

The transfer of ownership will take effect in January 2025, with OSM Thome establishing an office in Oslo to manage ship management for Klaveness Combination Carriers. The agreement between Torvald Klaveness and OSM Thome includes a focus on modernizing ship management through new technology and digitalization. This strategic move aims to enhance activities, support future expansion, and maintain the high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency in operating the fleet of combination carriers.

OSM Thome’s acquisition of Klaveness Ship Management represents a step in their strategy to expand operations. The merger of OSM Maritime Group and Thome Group in 2023 created a strong platform with around 29,000 seafarers and 1,600 shore-based professionals, serving leading shipping groups globally. Both companies emphasized the need to address emerging challenges in ship management and are committed to utilizing new technology and ensuring environmentally friendly operations in the future.
