X-Press Feeders, a leading independent transport service provider, has introduced its second eco-friendly methanol route, the Green Baltic X-PRESS (GBX). This new route is part of Europe’s first green methanol-powered feeder network and follows the successful launch of the Green Finland X-PRESS (GFX) in July. Scheduled to commence operations on August 23, the GBX route will serve key ports such as Rotterdam, Antwerp-Bruges, Klaipeda, and Riga. The addition of a third dual-fuel vessel, the “Environmentally friendly” to the fleet, enabled this expansion.

With a fleet of over 100 vessels, X-Press Feeders received the first of 14 dual-fuel vessels in May, with the remaining vessels expected to be delivered by mid-2026. Each dual-fuel vessel has a capacity of 1,200 TEU and a length of 148 meters (LOA). The company’s Chief Operating Officer, Francis Goh, expresses excitement about the launch of the Green Baltic X-PRESS, which expands the green methanol-powered feeder network and provides customers with more sustainable shipping options. The choice to utilize green methanol as fuel reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 65% compared to conventional fuels and is independently certified in Europe.

X-Press Feeders’ commitment to sustainability aligns with recent EU regulations, such as the Maritime Emissions Trading Scheme and upcoming marine fuel rules, aimed at reducing the shipping industry’s environmental impact. The company has partnered with various European ports to promote environmentally friendly, methanol-powered shipping, starting with Rotterdam. Future plans involve expanding the green methanol-powered network across Europe as more ships adopt dual-fuel propulsion, ultimately contributing to the decarbonization of the shipping sector.
