The Rotterdam-based company, known for its presence in the Handysize dry bulk sector, has signed a Letter of Intent to join Ahti Pool. This initiative allows Van Weelde to achieve regulatory compliance effectively without compromising competitiveness. By joining the pool, the group can meet the demands of FuelEU Maritime efficiently while reducing administrative overheads.
Ahti Pool, established by Ahti Climate, offers a cooperative model where shipowners collectively manage compliance through pooled resources, benefiting from economies of scale. This arrangement allows vessels in the pool to share compliance responsibilities, ultimately lowering costs across various trading routes. Van Weelde’s technical director, Raoul de Troije, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency across its fleet. The decision to join Ahti Pool aligns with this commitment and ensures compliance with evolving regulatory standards.
Van Weelde Shipping Group, founded in 1964, primarily manages its dry bulk fleet through subsidiaries OSR Rotterdam BV and Van Weelde Chartering BV.
