The Directorate General of Maritime Administration (DGMA) is set to enhance connectivity and collaboration within India’s shipbuilding sector through the launch of the Comprehensive Shipbuilding Portal. This innovative digital platform aims to unify key participants in the shipbuilding value chain, including shipbuilders, ancillary industries, design agencies, skill development centers, regulatory bodies, shipowners, managers, research institutions, and financial entities.
By establishing a centralized platform for stakeholder interaction, the portal is expected to foster improved coordination, information sharing, and collaboration among various players in the shipbuilding ecosystem. This initiative aims to enhance visibility across the supply chain and promote closer engagement between industry participants and regulators.
The Comprehensive Shipbuilding Portal aligns with the Maritime India Vision (MIV) 2030 and the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision (MAKV) 2047, which outline a strategic framework for bolstering India’s maritime sector and enhancing its position in the global maritime value chain. This initiative comes as India focuses on strengthening its domestic shipbuilding capabilities, developing supporting industries, and enhancing maritime skills to meet future demand.
Through improved digital connectivity and collaboration, the portal aims to create stronger connections between industry, regulation, technology, and finance, ultimately contributing to a more integrated and competitive shipbuilding ecosystem.
