The company informed customers with cargo on board MV Dali to notify their insurers immediately about the General Average declaration. Alternate channels have been opened in Baltimore, but larger vessels are unable to access them. Maersk is awaiting confirmation on a third channel to open in April. Global shipping company Maersk has provided an update on its operations in response to the Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore. The company confirmed that ships have relied on General Average (GA) and urged customers with cargo on the MV Dali to inform their insurers. The Port of Baltimore has opened temporary alternate channels, but they are not deep enough for large container ships used by Maersk and other companies.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is planning a third channel that will be deeper and provide limited access to Baltimore Harbor. Maersk is awaiting confirmation from the port captain on the details of this channel. While new bookings are not being accepted at the Port of Baltimore, Maersk continues to serve the area through alternative ports like Newark, Norfolk, and Philadelphia.

Customers are asked to notify their Maersk representative if they wish to self-arrange freight in Baltimore, as new bookings to and from the city are temporarily suspended. Maersk is working to find solutions and will notify customers of any changes to their cargo. The company is dedicated to serving the area and ensuring clear communication with customers during this challenging time.
