The Deendayal Port Authority in Kandla has set a new operational record by loading 38,500 metric tonnes of bentonite onto the MV BUZZARD in just over 22 hours. This operation, which commenced at 4:05 PM on July 2 and concluded at 2:30 PM on July 3, underscores the port’s commitment to speed and efficiency in cargo handling.
This accomplishment was made possible through the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including Ashapura Stevedores, Spartans Marine Services, and exporters such as Gimpex Imerys India Private Limited. Their teamwork ensured a smooth process, facilitating quicker vessel turnaround and bolstering reliable logistics.
The achievement highlights Deendayal Port’s status as a significant player among India’s major ports, consistently pushing for operational enhancements. Reduced loading times contribute to less congestion, increased berth productivity, and enhanced competitiveness for Indian exports on the global stage.
Bentonite is crucial in industries like construction and oilfield services, making efficient handling vital for supply chains. This record loading demonstrates the port’s ability to support bulk cargo movements effectively, aiding in overall trade flow and operational reliability within the maritime logistics sector.
