Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a leading public-sector shipbuilder in India, is set to launch three advanced vessels on Saturday, highlighting its growing expertise in naval defence, commercial shipping, and sustainability. The launches include an Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) for the Indian Navy, a Hybrid Electric Methanol-Ready Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV), and India’s largest Trailer Suction Hopper Dredger, the DCI Dredge Godavari.
The ASW Shallow Water Craft, the sixth in an eight-vessel series, is a 78-metre, 896-tonne ship equipped with underwater sensors and anti-submarine systems. It will enhance the Indian Navy’s near-shore anti-submarine capabilities and support a variety of maritime operations. The Hybrid Electric CSOV marks an entry into the offshore renewable sector, featuring hybrid-electric propulsion and advanced systems for safe crew transfers during offshore operations. It aims to provide world-class living conditions for offshore technicians.
The DCI Dredge Godavari, built in partnership with Royal IHC of the Netherlands, will be India’s largest dredger, capable of deep dredging to enhance port and land reclamation efforts. This triple launch symbolizes CSL’s leadership in advanced maritime engineering, reinforcing India’s emerging role in global shipbuilding.
