Wärtsilä has signed an 8-year Lifecycle Agreement with Carnival Corporation, the largest cruise company globally, covering four vessels in the Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line fleets. This includes two newbuild ships currently under construction. Notably, this is the first service contract for Carnival’s LNG-fueled cruise ships, with Wärtsilä set to provide comprehensive lifecycle maintenance for their dual-fuel engines and related equipment. The order was recorded in Wärtsilä’s Q2 2026.
In the cruise industry, vessel availability and schedule reliability are critical, prompting operators to adopt data-driven, performance-based service models for effective technology management. Wärtsilä’s Lifecycle Agreement reflects this trend, offering long-term support aimed at optimizing asset performance throughout the vessels’ lifecycles.
The agreement encompasses a range of services, including both planned and unplanned maintenance, spare parts supply, major engine overhauls, remote monitoring, and condition-based maintenance. Additionally, it includes technical audits, crew training, and performance management based on agreed key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring a comprehensive approach to operational efficiency.
