The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, hosted the Kandla Green Hydrogen Conclave 2026 on Friday at its Administrative Office in Gandhidham, Gujarat. The event gathered global leaders, industry experts, and delegates to discuss green hydrogen and sustainable maritime practices.
Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal addressed participants through a virtual message, while DPA Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh and Erik Solheim, former Minister of Norway, were also in attendance. The conclave included discussions on clean energy transitions, sustainable port development, and new green technologies, aimed at fostering global collaboration towards enhancing India’s green maritime goals.
As part of the proceedings, the GH2 delegation toured India’s first Make-in-India 1-MW Green Hydrogen Plant at Kandla, gaining insights into the port’s infrastructure and increasing emphasis on green energy.
Chairperson Sushil Kumar Singh emphasized the maritime sector’s responsibility to reduce its carbon footprint, noting that it contributes approximately 3% of global greenhouse gas emissions. He advocated for the adoption of greener fuels alongside energy-efficient technologies to achieve substantial reductions in emissions consistent with the Paris Agreement goals.
