One person has been confirmed dead, and another is missing after a fishing vessel capsized near the Muthalapozhi Estuary in Kerala, India, on Friday, July 31. The unfortunate incident occurred around 8:30 PM local time when strong waves struck the unnamed vessel, which had four crew members aboard.
The fishing boat was operating approximately 100 meters from the estuary when it was overturned by the severe weather conditions. In the aftermath of the capsizing, two crew members managed to swim to safety, reaching the shoreline despite the treacherous waves.
However, the other two crew members were not as fortunate and were swept away by the strong current. Rescue operations are likely to be ongoing as authorities search for the missing individual.
