India Ensures Welfare with Repatriation of Over 2900 Seafarers from Gulf

The Indian government announced on Saturday that over 2,922 Indian seafarers have been safely repatriated from the Gulf region, with 30 returning in the last 24 hours. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is actively collaborating with the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian Missions to ensure the welfare of seafarers and maintain smooth maritime operations. The situation in West Asia is being closely monitored, and no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels have been reported recently.

In its latest update, the ministry stated that the DG Shipping Control Room has received 8,335 calls and over 17,838 emails since its activation, with 67 calls and 144 emails logged in the past day. Port operations across India remain stable, with no congestion reported. The Ministry of External Affairs is also focused on the safety and welfare of the Indian community in the region, issuing updated advisories related to local guidelines, travel situations, and consular services.

Flight operations are gradually improving, with additional flights from the Gulf to various destinations in India. Airlines in the UAE are running limited commercial flights based on safety considerations, while flights from Saudi Arabia and Oman continue as well. The Indian Embassy in Tehran has facilitated the movement of 2,490 nationals out of Iran via land borders, advising those still in Iran to leave through these routes with embassy support.
