Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has surpassed the 50 million metric tonne cargo milestone, achieving this feat 19 days earlier than last year. This makes it the fastest of India’s major ports to reach this level in the current financial year.
The port’s impressive performance reflects ongoing growth in cargo handling across various commodities. In FY 2025-26, Kandla recorded its highest volume ever, managing 160.11 million metric tonnes, underscoring its efficiency and operational capacity.
Kandla’s success can be attributed to improved throughput, effective operational strategies, and a focus on large-scale cargo movements. A recent record of handling 775,251 tonnes in a single day further illustrates its robust capabilities.
This achievement reinforces DPA Kandla’s status as a key gateway for bulk and liquid cargo along India’s west coast, while emphasizing the port authority’s commitment to increasing annual cargo volumes and boosting productivity.
