The Indian-flagged LPG vessel Jag Vikram successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, carrying around 20,400 metric tonnes of LPG and 24 crew members. It is anticipated to reach Kandla port by Tuesday, as confirmed by a government statement. All Indian seafarers in the region are reported safe, with no incidents involving Indian vessels in the last 24 hours.
The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) reported managing over 6,000 calls and nearly 13,000 emails since its activation, including 20 calls and 80 emails in the past day. So far, the DG Shipping has facilitated the safe return of over 2,177 Indian seafarers, with 93 repatriated in the last 24 hours from various Gulf locations. Port operations across India remain unaffected, with no congestion reported. The western coast ports have successfully handled 3,383 TEUs of containers bound for West Asia, with only 155 TEUs pending due to operational factors.
The Ministry of Ports and Shipping is coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs and maritime stakeholders to ensure the welfare of Indian seafarers and maintain smooth maritime operations. Indian missions in the Gulf are actively engaging with the community to provide assistance and issue safety advisories. The government is closely monitoring developments in the Gulf and West Asia, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the Indian diaspora in the region.
