A Game-Changer in Electric Marine Propulsion VS-Drive Launched

Vessev Launches The VS-Drive Propulsion System

Vessev has unveiled the VS-Drive, an innovative podded propulsion system poised to transform electric marine performance. This submersible motor features advanced active cooling and custom direct-drive brushless motors in a modular design, specifically engineered for Vessev’s commercial-grade electric hydrofoiling vessels.

The VS-Drive powers the VS-9, a nine-meter battery-electric hydrofoiling catamaran that offers smooth, silent, and emissions-free travel. It is designed to scale for larger models, including 12 and 18-meter vessels, as well as an upcoming recreational craft. By connecting the motor directly to the propeller and eliminating gearboxes, the VS-Drive minimizes moving parts, enhancing efficiency and reducing energy loss.

Delivering a continuous output of 65 kW (90 horsepower) at 25 knots, the VS-Drive is built for durability, featuring long-life bearings and real-time health monitoring sensors. Its modular design allows for easy disassembly and servicing, providing operators with confidence in its reliability. Additionally, the system’s vectorable rudder mounting enhances low-speed maneuverability, making it adaptable for various marine environments and marina configurations.
