Antipollution, part of V Group, and ONEX Shipyards & Technologies have signed a letter of intent for the construction of up to eight marine pollution reception and oil recovery vessels in Greece. This initiative includes four confirmed vessels and four options, marking a significant advancement in Greek shipbuilding and enhancing environmental services in the maritime sector.
The vessels will be constructed by ONEX, which is revitalizing shipyards in Elefsis and Syros. This project highlights the increasing investment in specialized vessels built in Greece for domestic use, reinforcing the country’s commitment to maritime innovation.
Designed to collect liquid and solid waste from commercial ships at port, the vessels will transport the waste to Antipollution’s onshore facility. There, the waste will be processed and converted into solid fuel, promoting a more circular approach to maritime waste management and contributing to environmental sustainability.
This collaboration not only boosts local shipbuilding capabilities but also aligns with global efforts to improve waste management practices in the maritime industry.
