The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing collaboration in maritime decarbonization, digitalization, innovation, and workforce development. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to creating a sustainable and future-ready maritime sector while bolstering MSC’s operations in Singapore, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of MSC’s local office.
The MoU will focus on exploring new routes and services to enhance connectivity, promoting the use of alternative marine fuels like bio-LNG, and advancing technologies for improved vessel energy efficiency. Additionally, MPA and MSC will collaborate on digital initiatives to streamline vessel arrivals and optimize port operations.
On the manpower front, MSC will support internship and scholarship opportunities through the Singapore Maritime Foundation’s Maritime Outreach Network (MaritimeONE). This initiative aims to raise awareness of the maritime industry and attract skilled talent, fostering a robust workforce.
MPA’s Chief Executive, Ang Wee Keong, emphasized the importance of this partnership in driving sustainability and operational efficiency, reinforcing Singapore’s status as a global maritime hub.
