The United Arab Emirates accused Iran of attacking an empty crude oil tanker, the Barakah, owned by ADNOC, using drones as it navigated the Strait of Hormuz. ADNOC confirmed that the tanker was empty at the time of the incident and reported no injuries.

The UAE’s foreign ministry condemned the unprovoked attack and urged Iran to cease hostilities and fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passage for global oil and gas shipments. Tensions have escalated since the U.S. and Israel began military actions against Iran on February 28, leading to Iran blocking access for most non-Iranian vessels in the Gulf.
