Under the Cruise Bharat Mission, the terminal’s capacity has increased from 1,000 to 1,800 passengers. Key improvements include enhanced immigration facilities, modernized interiors, and dedicated customs areas, positioning Chennai as a key cruise tourism hub.
The recent turnaround of Celebrity Millennium at Mumbai’s Ballard Pier underscores the city’s ability to meet global cruise standards while retaining its local charm. With 2,062 guests onboard, this event demonstrated Mumbai’s capacity for high-volume cruise operations, enhancing hospitality and efficiency, and signaling potential for future lucrative itineraries in the Arabian Sea.
During the upcoming India Maritime Week in Mumbai, the Odisha government plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for a cruise terminal in Puri. P L Haranadh, chairman of the Paradip Port Authority, noted that this initiative will expand to Paradip in the next two to three years, enhancing maritime development.
