India Pushes for Practical Solutions on Seafarer Abandonment at IMO
India’s proposal at the 113th Session of the IMO’s Legal Committee has gained acceptance, addressing the critical issue of seafarer abandonment. The initiative calls for improved measures aligned with the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC, 2006), including a Model Standard Operating Procedure and a secure web-based system for enhanced coordination and reporting.
