Ocean Infinity, a marine technology company, has recently achieved a significant milestone by receiving a Statement of Compliance (SOC) from DNV for its remotely supported vessel operations. This approval establishes Ocean Infinity as the industry’s first organization to meet the required standard of technology and operations for large vessels, allowing them to begin onshoring marine-related tasks and activities. The SOC was formally presented to Ocean Infinity at SMM in Hamburg by DNV.
CEO Oliver Plunkett expressed his pride in the team’s innovative work, emphasizing the company’s commitment to pushing boundaries in the maritime industry. The achievement of the SOC reflects Ocean Infinity’s dedication to balancing technological progress with safety in delivering solutions to customers. Plunkett looks forward to implementing their ideas of onshoring marine activities and tasks, aiming to transform global shipping practices.
Ocean Infinity highlighted that this achievement addresses industry challenges such as rising operational costs and the need for sustainable operations and an inclusive workforce. The successful implementation of remote vessel technology, bringing maritime work into the office, demonstrates feasibility, safety, and sets the stage for widespread adoption, revolutionizing global shipping practices. DNV, as the class partner, is proud to accompany Ocean Infinity on their journey towards fully autonomous and remote vessel operation.
The company is currently in the final stages of testing for upgrading two more vessels to meet the new standard, while also working on the next phase of its remote marine operations program. By gradually moving towards autonomous and remote vessel operation, Ocean Infinity is paving the way for industry advancements with the support of DNV and the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore. This collaborative effort aims to build a foundation of expertise and trusted assurance for future innovations in maritime technology.
