Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited (SDHI) has formed a strategic partnership with DNV to enhance India’s maritime and shipbuilding sector. This collaboration is a pivotal step towards making India a competitive hub in global shipbuilding, aligning with initiatives like Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.
The partnership focuses on improving ship classification standards, integrating maritime technology, and promoting green shipping solutions, while adopting international best practices for both commercial and defense shipbuilding. It comes at a crucial time as India aims to bolster its shipbuilding capabilities through various schemes and policies with a goal to rank among the top five shipbuilding nations by 2047.
As India seeks to compete with established players like China, South Korea, and Japan, collaborations with global classification societies such as DNV will be essential. These partnerships enable Indian shipyards to meet international certification, safety, and sustainability standards, crucial for attracting foreign investment and export orders.
Ultimately, this collaboration aims to transform India’s policy ambitions into global credibility, enhancing the country’s standing in the international shipbuilding arena.
