Four more Filipino crew members of the missile-hit M/V Minoan Courage have been repatriated, almost two weeks after the tragic incident in the Red Sea. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed that the four Filipino seafarers arrived in Manila on October 13. This group is the second batch of 21 Filipino crew members set for repatriation following the attack by Houthi rebels on the Greek bulk carrier on October 1, 2024.
The first batch of seven seafarers had already returned home on October 9, with the remaining 10 expected to follow suit soon. The DMW is working in coordination with the licensed manning agencies and the shipowner to facilitate the repatriation process. All repatriated Filipino seafarers are entitled to financial assistance from the DMW and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
Additionally, the manning agency has arranged hotel accommodations for the repatriated seafarers while they await their scheduled psychiatric evaluation. The DMW is ensuring that the returning seafarers receive the necessary support and assistance during this challenging time. The repatriation efforts are ongoing to bring all Filipino crew members of the M/V Minoan Courage back home safely.
