MSC Cruises Celebrates Progress on Three World Class Ships in France

MSC Cruises and Chantiers de l’Atlantique celebrated significant milestones in the development of three World Class ships in Saint-Nazaire, France. The events included the delivery of MSC World America, the coin ceremony for MSC World Asia, and the steel cutting for the newly named MSC World Atlantic. The celebrations were attended by key figures such as Captain Gianluigi Aponte, Pierfrancesco Vago, and Laurent Castaing, along with the French Minister for Industry and Energy, Marc Ferracci.

MSC World America, the 23rd ship in MSC Cruises’ fleet, is set to be officially named on April 9 at the company’s new state-of-the-art MSC Miami Cruise Terminal. The ship offers new venues and concepts tailored specifically to the North American market, combining European style with American comfort. Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Group’s Cruise Division, expressed pride in the collaboration with Chantiers de l’Atlantique and the innovative partnership that has resulted in groundbreaking ships over the years.

MSC World Asia celebrated its coin ceremony, with two godmothers placing commemorative coins in the ship’s hull for good luck. The ship is scheduled to enter service during the winter of 2026-27, offering Mediterranean cruises to destinations in France, Italy, Spain, and Malta. Additionally, a steel cutting ceremony marked the start of construction for MSC World Atlantic, the fourth World Class ship, which will offer cruises from Port Canaveral to the Caribbean starting in the winter of 2027-28. The World Class platform continues to set new standards in cruising with each new ship incorporating innovations in design, technology, and guest experience.
