India has confirmed that 22 seafarers aboard two foreign-flagged ships, targeted by Iran’s military in the Strait of Hormuz, are safe. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways reported that the vessels involved are the Panama-flagged container ships Euphoria, carrying 21 Indian crew members, and Epaminondas, with one Indian seafarer on board. Authorities are actively coordinating evacuations and providing assistance to nationals in the region as tensions remain high.

In addition to the seafarers on these vessels, all other Indian nationals in the Persian Gulf are reported to be safe. The Indian-flagged crude oil tanker Desh Garima, which successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz on April 18 with 31 Indian crew members, has since reached Mumbai. The government prioritizes the welfare of Indian seafarers, working closely with the Ministry of External Affairs and maritime stakeholders to ensure their safety and continued maritime operations.

The shipping ministry also noted that 518 Indian seafarers are currently aboard Indian-flagged vessels in the Persian Gulf region.
