GAIL (India) Limited, the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), and DNV (Det Norske Veritas) have entered into a Tripartite Cooperation Agreement to establish an LNG bunkering facility at Kandla Port. This partnership combines GAIL’s LNG expertise, DPA’s strategic port infrastructure, and DNV’s maritime safety knowledge to enhance LNG bunkering capabilities.
The collaboration aims to develop the necessary infrastructure, supply chains, and safety frameworks to support LNG operations at the port. This initiative is significant for promoting the use of cleaner marine fuels, aligning with India’s commitment to greener and more sustainable shipping practices.
The agreement was formalized by key representatives: Sushil Kumar Singh, Chairman of the DPA; Anant Khobragade from the Gujarat Zonal Office; and Ajay Kumar Singh, Business Lead for Marine Advisory at DNV India.
This strategic alliance marks a crucial advancement in India’s clean-fuel maritime infrastructure, reinforcing sustainable shipping standards at one of the nation’s prominent ports.
