Iran’s Foreign Ministry has expressed strong disapproval of the recent seizure of a cargo ship by U.S. forces, which was reportedly attempting to bypass a blockade on Iranian ports. In a statement released on Tuesday, the ministry condemned the action, labeling it as an unlawful and violent assault by the U.S. military, referred to as a “terrorist army.”

The ministry characterized the incident as a “form of maritime piracy and a terrorist act,” arguing that it contravenes international law. It also highlighted that the seizure occurred during a two-week ceasefire with the U.S., which began on April 7. This timing raises further concerns about the legality of the U.S. actions.

In light of these events, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has called for the immediate release of the Iranian-flagged vessel, named ‘Touska,’ along with its crew and their families. The statement underscores Iran’s commitment to defending its maritime interests and maintaining its sovereignty amidst ongoing tensions with the United States.
