VIKING Life-Saving Equipment has introduced the VIKING YouSafe™ Crest (PS2016) immersion suit, designed to meet US Coast Guard regulations and provide essential thermal protection for up to six hours in cold water. This new suit, crafted from durable and buoyant neoprene, is available in three sizes to accommodate diverse body types found in maritime operations. Key enhancements include reinforced soles, an inflatable buoyancy feature for improved mobility, and high-visibility reflective elements to ensure users can be easily spotted in various conditions.
One of the standout features of the YouSafe™ Crest suit is its focus on rapid donning, which is crucial in emergency scenarios. According to Camilla Schultz Georgsen, Product Manager PPE Marine, the suit includes the approved Aquaseal plastic zipper that allows for quick and reliable closure, easing maintenance compared to traditional metal zippers. Additionally, detachable gloves enable users to put the suit on swiftly while maintaining dexterity for essential tasks without the hindrance of bulky accessories.
The suit also boasts advanced safety features, such as an integrated inflatable head support that enhances flotation and keeps airways clear. This innovative design eliminates the need for separate flotation devices, which is particularly beneficial in emergencies. VIKING emphasizes that while larger safety investments might draw attention, quick donning capabilities significantly impact survival chances in urgent situations.
To facilitate easier procurement, the YouSafe™ Crest suit is produced in standardized specifications that align with Coast Guard expectations. VIKING is offering a launch discount until October 2026, and the suit benefits from the company’s authorized service network to ensure ongoing compliance and integrity through regular maintenance and pressure testing.
