ClassNK has introduced a new tool called ‘WACDAS (Wave Climate Data Aggregation for Ships)’ to calculate route correction factors necessary for container lashing safety and stacking optimization. This tool is in response to the increasing size of container ships and advancements in lashing technology. Last year, ClassNK released ‘Guidelines for Container Stowage and Securing Arrangements (Edition 3.0)’ to improve safety and efficiency in marine container transportation.
‘WACDAS’ is designed to easily calculate route correction factors needed for approved lashing software compatible with the class notation ‘Container Stowage and Securing Arrangement with Service on Specific Sea Routes (CSSA-RS)’ as per the guidelines. This tool, accessible through a web browser, allows for onboard calculation of these factors, facilitating optimal container stacking based on individual vessel routes and seasons.
This tool aims to enhance safety and efficiency in container transportation by providing a convenient way to calculate route correction factors for container lashing and stacking optimization.
