ClassNK has recently published its annual report on Port State Control, aimed at raising awareness about the current state of PSC and improving future onboard maintenance and inspections, as well as Safety Management Systems. The report includes statistics and data analysis on ships detained by PSC, along with typical defective photos. In 2023, 419 PSC detentions were reported for 398 ships classed by ClassNK, with ‘fire safety deficiencies’ like ‘fire-dampers,’ ‘fixed fire extinguishing installation,’ and ‘fire pumps’ being the most common detainable issues.
To address these concerns, ClassNK is committed to eliminating substandard vessels by providing information related to PSC and offering tools like ‘PrimeShip-PSC Intelligence’ to support the improvement of PSC performance and ship management systems. The annual report is available for download on ClassNK’s website, providing valuable insights and data for industry stakeholders looking to enhance their safety and compliance measures.
It is important to note that the products and services mentioned in this press release are not endorsed by The Maritime Executive, highlighting the independent nature of ClassNK’s efforts to promote safety and compliance within the maritime industry.
