MOLCT has developed a vessel with a single-fuel engine that improves low-emission navigation by reducing CO2 emissions by three percent compared to vessels using VLSFO. This engine can run on MGO or a biofuel blended with LSMGO. The reduction in emissions is even greater when compared to vessels with HSFO engines. This initiative aligns with MOL’s target of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, showing a commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.
The vessel has been designed to make use of modern connectivity for real-time monitoring and analysis of ship operations both at sea and on land. Senior officers can access navigation, propulsion, and cargo data from the ship’s office in a secure and reliable manner, without needing to be physically present on site. Onshore, technical and commercial managers can support the crew and assess operations more effectively through real-time monitoring, improving overall efficiency and safety.
The innovative approach taken by MOLCT reflects a proactive stance towards reducing emissions and increasing operational efficiency in the maritime industry. By leveraging technology and data analysis, the company aims to not only meet but exceed environmental targets while also enhancing the safety and effectiveness of ship operations. This demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices in the maritime sector.
