As tensions escalate in West Asia, Aseem Mahajan, Joint Secretary (Gulf) at the Ministry of External Affairs, announced that Indian missions and ports in the region have established 24/7 helplines to support Indian nationals. He emphasized the importance of consular services, travel assistance, and the welfare of Indian seafarers to facilitate their safe and unhindered movement.
In light of the situation, Mahajan revealed that Gulf Air is set to resume limited flights between India and Bahrain shortly. This move aims to enhance connectivity and provide timely travel options for Indians in the region.
To date, Indian authorities have successfully evacuated 2,423 citizens from Iran and Azerbaijan. Efforts are also underway to assist Indian nationals in returning from Jordan and Egypt, ensuring their safe passage amid the ongoing unrest.
The proactive measures taken by the Indian government underscore its commitment to the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad during these challenging times.
