Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has strongly denounced recent statements from the Houthi group’s military spokesperson. In a statement released on Tuesday, he labeled these allegations as unfounded and a desperate attempt to distort the truth while evading accountability for the group’s actions, which have exacerbated the suffering of the Yemeni people and posed threats to regional security.
Albudaiwi emphasized that such irresponsible claims will not change the reality of Saudi Arabia’s genuine efforts to support Yemen. He highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to achieving stability, political solutions, and humanitarian aid for the Yemeni populace. He reiterated that Saudi Arabia’s initiatives are driven by a sense of responsibility toward Yemen and its citizens.
Furthermore, Albudaiwi underscored the importance of maritime navigation and international trade as critical components of regional and global security. He warned that any attempts to disrupt international waterways are clear violations of international law and United Nations conventions.
He urged the international community to take a strong stand against these Houthi threats and to ensure the enforcement of UN Security Council resolutions aimed at safeguarding maritime navigation. Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s unwavering support for Saudi Arabia in its efforts to protect its security and sovereignty.
