MARAN and NPCC Strengthen Ties to Boost Maritime Sector Development

The Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN) and the Nigerian Port Consultative Council (NPCC) have committed to enhancing their collaboration to promote reforms and sustainable growth in the maritime sector. This pledge was made during a recent courtesy visit by the newly elected MARAN executives to the NPCC headquarters in Lagos. NPCC Chairman, Mr. Bolaji Sunmola, emphasized the importance of the media as a strategic partner in shaping policies and fostering dialogue within the industry.

Sunmola expressed the council’s appreciation for the media’s role in strengthening the maritime sector, highlighting a long-standing media-friendly culture. He welcomed the renewed engagement with MARAN, which he believes will further enhance cooperation between the two organizations. MARAN President, Mr. Oluyinka Onigbinde, reiterated the association’s commitment to building robust ties with maritime stakeholders and praised the NPCC for its efforts in promoting operational efficiency.

During the meeting, NPCC Vice President, Mrs. Jean Chiazor Anishere, encouraged journalists to focus on constructive reporting while seeking clarification to avoid publishing potentially damaging information. Both parties expressed optimism that their renewed partnership would strengthen stakeholder engagement and contribute to the development of Nigeria’s maritime industry.
