On May 30, Ukrainian drone strikes targeted Russian oil infrastructure, resulting in damage to a tanker and an oil refinery in Taganrog, alongside an oil depot attack in Armavir. Local officials from Russia reported these incidents, which occurred overnight, with injuries noted but no significant oil spills.
Yury Slyusar, the Rostov regional governor, shared that fires on the tanker and within the Taganrog port were extinguished quickly. Svetlana Kambulova, the city’s mayor, noted the ongoing local state of emergency, which had been extended since May 27. Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed it had downed 127 drones during the night.
In Armavir, in the Krasnodar region, authorities stated that a fire at an oil depot in the city’s industrial zone was contained without incidents of injury. Slyusar indicated that nearly 50 drones were intercepted in his region, with drone strikes reported across the province bordering Ukraine’s Donbas region, a key conflict area.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy confirmed the military’s involvement in the Armavir strike, emphasizing a strategic return of conflict to Russian territories. He criticized Russia for prolonging the aggression and highlighted the significance of targeting oil facilities, reflecting Ukraine’s ongoing military objectives.
