American military forces targeted a Panama-flagged container ship, the Vela Nova, in the Gulf of Oman on Tuesday morning. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the ship was allegedly trying to circumvent a U.S. embargo on Iranian ports. A missile was fired from a helicopter, specifically aimed at the vessel’s rudder.
Following the missile strike, the crew of the Vela Nova was safely transferred to another ship, and there have been no reported injuries or casualties among the crew members. All personnel aboard the container ship were accounted for after the incident.
