On July 28, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) successfully executed a medical evacuation of two seriously injured seafarers from a Panama-flagged merchant vessel situated off the coast of Goa. The individuals involved were identified as Jismsher Davitaze, a 37-year-old Georgian national, and Arun Babu Varukattu, a 34-year-old Indian national.
The ICG responded promptly to the emergency, ensuring the swift evacuation of both crew members. Following their rescue, the injured seafarers were transported to shore, where they received immediate medical attention. The urgency of the situation necessitated a rapid response, highlighting the Coast Guard’s commitment to maritime safety.
After the initial medical care, both individuals were transferred to a hospital located in Dona Paula for further treatment. The successful operation underscores the critical role of the Indian Coast Guard in safeguarding lives at sea and responding to emergencies efficiently.
