The Indian Coast Guard recently conducted the first comprehensive maritime training program for the Police Marine Force in Andaman and Nicobar. The training program aimed to enhance the operational capabilities and maritime proficiency of the newly recruited personnel. The seven-week training included theoretical classes and hands-on training aboard various coast guard vessels, covering subjects such as navigation, communication, seamanship, boarding operations, damage control, fire fighting, and sea survival.
The training program concluded with an impressive valedictory function held at the Coast Guard Distt HQ-14 on 19 Jun 2024. The event was attended by Shri Sanjay Kumar Tyagi, IPS, DIGP (HQ)/PMT & Co-Ord/ PRTO (PHI)/ Recruitment as the Guest of Honour, along with distinguished officers and personnel from the A&N Police Department, Coast Guard Regional HQ, CGDHQ-14, and CG Ships. The Coast Guard Region (A&N) reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with Law Enforcement Agencies in Andaman and Nicobar Islands to ensure a secure and resilient maritime environment.
Overall, the training program marked a significant milestone in enhancing the capabilities of the Police Marine Force in Andaman and Nicobar. The Coast Guard’s efforts in fostering collaboration and building the capacity of law enforcement agencies in the region through such initiatives contribute to creating a secure maritime environment for the vast area of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
