An Indian Coast Guard vessel, the ICG’s Offshore Patrol Vessel Sujay, recently arrived at Bali for a three-day strategic port call during its East Asia deployment. The vessel, which includes an integral helicopter, will engage in professional interactions with Indonesia’s BAKAMLA, focusing on operational turnaround, marine pollution response, maritime search and rescue, and maritime law enforcement. The visit will also involve cross-deck training, joint yoga sessions, and friendly sports events between the coast guards of both nations.
Furthermore, ten NCC cadets on board the ICGS Sujay will take part in an environment protection walkathon to raise awareness about the harmful effects of marine pollution, in collaboration with local youth organizations. This visit highlights India’s dedication to enhancing relations with Indo-Pacific countries through maritime cooperation. The statement by the defense ministry emphasized the importance of this ongoing East Asia deployment and the positive impact it will have on strengthening ties with Indonesia.
The visit of the ICG vessel to Bali underscores the commitment of India to promoting maritime cooperation in the region. Through activities such as professional interactions, cross-deck training, and environmental awareness initiatives, the Indian Coast Guard is actively engaging with its Indonesian counterparts to foster mutual understanding and collaboration. This strategic port call serves as a testament to the shared values and commitment to maritime security and environmental protection between the two nations.
