Advancing Maritime Green Fuel Innovation at India’s Kandla Forum

The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, recently hosted the Kandla Forum 2026, themed “Anchoring Maritime Decarbonisation.” This event attracted over 200 senior executives from various sectors, including hydrogen, clean energy, and shipping, to discuss investment opportunities, technology partnerships, and green-fuel projects, specifically centered on green hydrogen and alternative marine fuels.

Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh led discussions on Kandla’s green hydrogen capabilities and infrastructure. Focus areas included existing and planned facilities for green hydrogen production and methanol bunkering, aimed at fostering partnerships and investment opportunities. DPA currently operates a 1 MW green hydrogen plant and is developing further facilities, along with completing India’s first methanol bunkering trial.

The forum’s interactive format enabled participating companies to engage directly with DPA leadership and present their technologies. Discussions featured diverse topics, including electrolysers and green-fuel-based engines, providing insight into investment potential at Kandla.

Delegates also toured the port facilities, assessing infrastructure that supports green energy initiatives. The forum emphasized the importance of converting industry discussions into tangible project developments, reinforcing Kandla’s commitment to advancing India’s maritime energy transition and alternative fuel capabilities.
